![]() Cats are quite save against getting comboed out by monsters due to their heal burrowing them at the same time. So if you see a prowler do fine for some time and then get hit to low life, chances are good you don't have to use your life powder on them. Buffed boomerangs have a different, larger graphic, so, if you see them throwing big blue piercing boomerangs and then get hit after a while, chances are good that they built up some of their prowler bar and that they are able to heal up themselves. (= early game, ~1-2 minutes into the game or if you see them throwing small, weak boomerangs later). ![]() If you get hit a lot, you won't be able to buff up and do damage and if you get hit too much you'll get to the dangerous point were you have to hit the monster enough just to be able to heal back up.Ģ) So, as a teammate: if you see the prowler get hit while they don't have their buffs up its a good time to help them with the healing so they can focus on spending their points on dps rather than healing. The key element of prowler gameplay is, that buffs and healing use the same resource, the prowler bar. They trade their survivability skills for damage (no acorns/free revives or no armor). No other items can be used: don't expect life powders, etc from cats :(. They only have a few flex slots/items: some use traps, some dung bombs (only really optimal builds have access to both or different trap types). They have limited healing power during setup time. All of these builds share a few traits: They are boomerang based, using two different boomerang buffs. There are viable end game prowler builds (if you're interested: here's a great guide: ). So I thought I'd write some words on what's worth knowing about cats as a non-prowler-player.įirst, the obvious: don't ban prowlers just for them playing cats. While playing as a prowler I saw a lot of different reactions from team mates, ranging from "no prowlers, i'll kick you", confusion: "cats?" to over-usage of life powders to really good synergistic/supportive play.
